Dance, 1898
Alphonse Mucha
Dance, a lithograph by Czech artist Alphonse Mucha presents an antithesis to the overly industrialized and heavily masculinized tone of the early 20th century. Created in 1898 – in the midst of the Second Industrial Revolution – Dance celebrates the feminine form with soft details, intricate patterns, and a natural medium. Mucha is best known for his commercial posters, which were accessible to a wide audience. He taught at the Chicago Institute of Art between 1904 and 1910, where he brought his interpretations of Art Nouveau to the United States.
Taking wearable art to an entirely new level, this whimsical lithograph has been re-imagined by The Mountain using the medium of ink on fabric.
We are pioneers of water-based ink and have perfected its use to create photo-realistic imagery that is not attainable by other screen printers. Feel comfortable inside and out with our 100% cotton, eco-friendly tees.
